How It's Made – The Journey of Bamboo to BambooWood

At Bambee, we believe in transforming nature’s gift—bamboo—into timeless, luxurious, and sustainable living materials. Each step of our process is handled with precision, care, and a commitment to eco-conscious craftsmanship. Here’s how your Bambee product is made:

• Selecting & Transporting: The journey begins in the lush bamboo forests of North-East India, home to the finest Tulda Bamboo (locally known as Jaati). A team of trained experts hand-selects only mature bamboo stalks, typically aged 3.5 to 4 years, ensuring optimal density and durability. These selected bamboo poles are carefully transported to our advanced manufacturing units for further processing.
• Cleaning & Stranding: Once received, the bamboo poles undergo thorough cleaning, and the outer skin and nodes (knots) are meticulously removed. The cleaned bamboo is then sliced into narrow strips and subsequently crushed into strands or fibers. These fibers form the foundational material for creating engineered BambooWood.
• Curing & Compression: To enhance longevity and strength, the bamboo strands are cured using both natural drying techniques and artificial methods (like heat and pressure treatment). This crucial step eliminates sugars and starches, making the bamboo termite- and moisture-resistant. Post-curing, the strands are compressed under high pressure and heat using specialized hydraulic systems, forming dense BambooWood beams that mimic hardwood’s structure and strength.
• Smoothening & Slicing: The solidified beams are then planed and smoothened to perfection. These are then sliced into specific thicknesses based on their final application—be it flooring, wall panelling, ceiling work, or outdoor decking. This step ensures consistent grain and dimensional precision.
• Seasoning & Finishing: The sliced planks are now subjected to seasoning, which includes both natural air-drying and KILN drying methods. This stabilizes the wood and prevents warping, even in extreme weather conditions. The final touch is the coating process, where each piece is treated with a premium UV-cured coating imported from Klumpp, Germany. This multilayered coating is applied and cured meticulously to enhance surface durability, scratch resistance, and visual appeal—ensuring a long-lasting, luxurious finish.
